Kora (Sofia Boutella) and her determined band of fighters must still overcome an oppressive Imperium, so Kora and company (led by director Zack Snyder (300"/"Man of Steel")) prepare themselves for battle as seen in this new trailer for "Rebel Moon -- Part Two: The Scargiver." Zack Snyder ("300," "Man of Steel") had originally planned this sci-fi epic as one movie until script length prevented this option, so both parts were shot simultaneously before Netflix released it earlier than originally planned!

"Movie one was about gathering our team, while movie two focused on war and why we fight," was how Snyder explained it in a recent interview with SFX magazine, while noting how four months was too much time between releases - "the idea being to strike while the iron's hot, when more people remember [the first film]."

"The Scargiver"'s release date remains uncertain due to poor reviews for "A Child of Fire." While critics were merciless with this first film, viewers showed little enthusiasm when measured against other high-profile Netflix originals released this year (per What's On Netflix). For viewers who found team assembly tedious in its predecessor, "Rebel Moon -- Part Two" may prove more engaging as its plot advances to an all-out war against an oppressive regime.

Snyder unveiled a trailer for "Rebel Moon -- Part Two: The Scargiver" on Vero and you can view both versions above on YouTube.

'It's a war film, 100%'

Goodbye setup; welcome payoff! Director Zack Snyder promised Empire magazine that "Rebel Moon -- Part Two: The Scargiver" is 100% a war film with much more intense action compared to the first movie and promises an emotional rollercoaster where audiences "discover backstories of our heroes, along with interesting connections between what has happened and this battle; making this epic cinematic journey both cathartic and symbolic."

At first, this seems related to the Imperium being an unpleasant bunch, while Atticus Noble (Ed Skrein), returned thanks to some sci-fi magic from death by Kora at the end of movie 1. However, his return shows no indication of mercy; with an army of farmers fighting off against guns or pointy objects. Yet Veldt still retains home-field advantage.

"Rebel Moon -- Part One: A Child of Fire" can now be streamed on Netflix; "Rebel Moon -- Part Two: The Scargiver" will arrive for release on April 19th 2024 and R-rated director's cuts of both movies will hit later in 2019.
