New Joker: Folie à Deux Images Show Off A Star-Crossed Joaquin Phoenix And Lady Gaga

Even five years on, "Joker" still seems surreal - especially considering its massive success at the box office. While audiences clearly acknowledged its inspirations from Martin Scorsese classics such as "The King of Comedy" and "Taxi Driver," audiences nonetheless responded well to Todd Phillips-directed standalone flick due to its moody tone, weird trailers, Joaquin Phoenix performance and overall Joaquin Phoenix effect. With this success came fast tracking for a sequel: now with Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn joining Arthur Fleck!

Phillips has kept fans up to date with both lovers in anticipation of this sequel's upcoming release by sharing images every now and then on social media, giving fans glimpses of them just in time for Valentine's Day - this time on Instagram with three images that show Gotham City's most eligible bachelor and bachelorette couples! His caption read "Hoping your day is full of love".

Although "Joker: Folie a Deux" might not lead directly to society disintegrating as some reactionaries predicted, we are all left wondering just how wild and intense its sequel will get? Luckily we still have time to adjust - as its release will hit theaters October 4, 2024.

While its R rating and obvious inspiration from Martin Scorsese classics like "The King of Comedy" and "Taxi Driver," audiences were drawn to Todd Phillips-directed standalone movie by its moody tone, surreal trailers, Joaquin Phoenix star power and provocative director Todd Phillips; audiences quickly warmed to it enough that its director quickly secured another sequel, this time featuring Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn in "Joker: Folie a Deux".

Phillips has not begun its full marketing push ahead of its release later this year; nonetheless, that hasn't stopped him from sharing images from the sequel on social media from time to time - including just before Valentine's Day itself! In one Instagram post featuring three images featuring Gotham City's most eligible bachelor and bachelorette couples (Ryder is seen above in white with blonde highlights in pink polka-dot undergarment and Ellie wears white and has blonde highlights), along with three bold captions such as RAY!).

Some reactionaries expected the original "Joker" would lead to the collapse of society; yet no matter its impact, its sequel might become increasingly bizarre and intense over time. We still have time to prepare; "Joker: Folie a Deux" hits theaters October 4, 2024.
